Our Parks, Recreation and Culture department is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic individual to join us as a Recreation Programmer. The Recreation department has an opportunity for qualified individuals to apply for the position of Lifeguard/Swim Instructor at Meadow Park Sports Centre. Reporting to the Aquatics Recreation Programmer, this casual position offers a schedule of
up to 80 hours bi-weekly during the sport centre operational hours of 6am to 9pm, including weekends. The Lifeguard/Swim Instructor’s main responsibilities include safety supervision of the pool area; swim instruction for all ages; administration of first aid for the sports centre; completion of basic maintenance tasks in the pool area; and the delivery of positive sports centre guest service. Lifeguard/Swim Instructors will also assist with the opening and closing of the pool facilities.

This position works in the Edmonds Community Centre Aquatic Services organizational unit. This position encompasses both lifeguarding duties and high-quality swim instruction on an assigned shift, at Edmonds Community Centre. Our Lifeguard Instructors ensure the safety of swimmers utilizing the aquatic facility, provide a safe and clean environment, and engage with a diverse client base to provide exceptional customer service. We are looking for Lifeguard Instructors to educate on pool rules; perform minor maintenance tasks; provide first aid treatment; lead instructional and recreational aquatic programs for all age ranges and to provide information to the public regarding swimmer progress and instructional evaluation techniques. The Regional District of Nanaimo is seeking casual Lifeguard/Instructors Level I and 2 at the Ravensong Aquatic Centre in Qualicum Beach. The successful candidates will assist in the creation, planning, organization, implementation and evaluation of aquatic programs and special events. Duties include leading and instructing a variety water-based exercise classes (i.e., Aquafit), enforcing pool rules and pool safety for the public, routine preventative maintenance and safety checks, implementation of the facility’s emergency response program, providing first aid services and supporting office staff.
