Lifesaving Sport: Join the World’s Only Humanitarian Sport
The Lifesaving Society is the Canadian governing body for Lifesaving Sport – a sport recognized by the International Olympic Committee and the Commonwealth Games Federation.
We organize annual championships for age-group, senior, and masters athletes as well as certification programs for coaches and officials.
Lifesaving sport fundamental program
Lifesaving Sport Fundamentals teaches skills to swimmers aged 8 and up who meet Swim to Survive standards, with competition opportunities at TeleGames and regional levels.

Junior Lifeguard Club introduces children aged 8 to 15 to Lifesaving Sport, promoting friendship, activity, and water safety. Participants learn skills, teamwork, fair play, ethics, and responsibility.

Ready for your first lifeguard competition? TeleGames are local contests held at aquatic facilities, offering a fun and encouraging environment without travel.

Volunteer & Officiate
Give back and volunteer! We always need enthusiastic volunteers to assist with crucial roles such as Timer, Finish/Turn Judge, Runner, Equipment Crew, and Starter. Officials require National Lifeguard (need not be current).
Lifesaving sport Courses & Events
Become a Lifesaving Sport Coach to inspire future lifesavers. This training supports Lifesaving Instructors in coaching Junior Lifeguard Programs and lifesaving sport clubs. Gain skills in athlete development, designing club workouts for water sports, using equipment, and preparing for competitive events.
Pool, Open Water, and Emergency Response Officials courses provide training for Lifesaving Sport officials who wish to officiate in different roles at community, provincial, and national sport events.
