The National Lifeguard Pool certification is designed to develop the fundamental values, judgment, knowledge, skills and fitness required by lifeguards. The National Lifeguard course emphasizes the lifeguarding skills, principles and practices, and the decision-making processes which will assist the lifeguard to provide effective safety supervision in swimming pool environments.

Recertification
The objective of the NL Precert is to provide candidates an opportunity to review NL skills and knowledge and to provide education on new information before the start of the Recertification.
Although not a requirement, the BC & Yukon Branch highly recommends that candidates attend an NL Precert prior to attempting an NL Pool Recert exam.

Students must be prepared to bring bathing suit, manual and paper for each class.
Students will need a fanny pack, whistle, and pocket mask for each class.
100% attendance is required.
Alert Manual is required and not included in fee.
Fanny pack, whistle, and pocket mask are not included in the fee.
There is a non-refundable exam fee of $60.00.
Prerequisite:
Bronze Cross (does not need to be current), Standard First Aid or Aquatic Emergency Care (current award recommended) and you must be 15 years old by the last day of the course.
Candidates will need to provide proof of the prerequisites on the 1st day of the course to the instructor or be sent home with no refund.
Emergency First Aid certificates obtained in high school are not accepted. Recognized Agencies for Standard First Aid or Aquatic Emergency Care are: any Canadian branch of the Lifesaving Society, Canadian Red Cross, St John Ambulance, Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Ski Patrol.
This course runs Tuesday to Friday and Monday to Friday August 5th to 15th 9:30am to 4:00pm. This course includes AMOA. Parkinson Recreation Center 250.469.8800
LOCATION: Harry Jerome Recreation Centre, 123 East 23rd Street, North Vancouver. Course runs Saturdays & Sundays 10:00am-3:30pm August 9-31.
