Out of Jurisdiction Certification

To support labour mobility across Canada, WorkSafeBC recognizes certifications issued by approved training providers in other Canadian provinces and territories. This aligns with national agreements such as the New West Partnership Trade Agreement (NWPTA) and the Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA), which promote the free movement of workers and recognition of professional credentials.

Please first review the Candidate Process – Outline document, found below. All supporting documents can be found below as well. All supporting documents can be emailed to awards@lifesaving.bc.ca. If you have any questions about this process, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Branch.

Prerequisites

  • A current Emergency or Standard First Aid certification from any Canadian Lifesaving Society Branch
Recognition

Out of Jurisdiction (WorkSafeBC/CSA Z1210-17 Basic) or Out of Jurisdiction (WorkSafeBC/CSA Z1210-17 Intermediate) electronic certification card.

Currency

Certification is valid for 3 years from date of issue of the original out of province first aid award.
