You understand the importance of knowing first aid; now pass your skills and knowledge onto others by learning to teach first aid.

In the First Aid Instructor course, you will learn to teach the Lifesaving Society of BC & Yukon’s unique and simplified approach to making First Aid training accessible.

As one of the big five first aid training agencies in Canada, the Lifesaving Society of BC & Yukon’s first aid continuum is recognized by WorkSafeBC as Occupational First Aid Level 1 equivalent, meets all provincial legislation requirements and certifications transferable between provinces because the first aid courses adhere to the National CSA Group curriculum standards.

Process to Attain Certification:

  • Present the necessary prerequisites
  • Read the Canadian First Aid Manual
  • Attend 100% of the First Aid Instructor course
  • Successfully demonstrate Level 1 Competencies within the course time.
  • Successfully demonstrate Level 1 Competencies in 2 teaching apprenticeship (Emergency First Aid & a Standard First Aid Recertification within 2 years of course completion)
  • Submit apprenticeship package to the Branch Office for approval
  • Instructors will receive a certification in the mail upon approval of their apprenticeship package.
