The Lifesaving Society Swim for Life Instructor certification prepares candidates to teach and evaluate basic swim strokes and related skills. Swim Instructors teach and evaluate candidates in the Society’s Swim for Life® and Canadian Swim Patrol levels. Candidates are trained in, and must demonstrate skills, knowledge, and attitudes at a Competency Level 1 to achieve certification.

The Swim for Life Instructor Recert renews a candidate’s Swim for Life Instructor award for 24 months. Candidates must successfully pass the course and complete a Swim for Life® skills assessment.

Course Days: Nov 8 – Dec 13 Saturdays. 1:00PM-7:30PM
Teaching Experience: Nov 9 – Nov 30 Sundays 8:00AM-12:30PM (times given on first day based on supervising instructor availability)
Candidates will receive all course materials and teaching experience instructions on the first day of the course.
Course Runs Saturdays:
9am-12pm will be Teach Experience with real lessons. (exact times to be assigned on first day)
12:30-5pm will be course time.

This course renews a candidate’s Swim Instructor award for 24 months. Candidates must successfully pass the course and complete a Swim for Life skills assessment.
Prerequisites: Swim Instructor (within 5 years). Candidate fees are not included in the course fee. Registration fees are refundable if a request for withdrawal is received at least 5 days before the start of the program.
