National Lifeguard Waterfront Recertification
Description
The objective of the NL Waterfront Precert clinic is to provide candidates an opportunity to review waterfront skills and knowledge and to provide education on new information before the start of the Recert clinic. Although not a requirement, the BC & Yukon Branch highly recommends that candidates attend an NL Waterfront Precert to promote professional development and success
Prerequisites
- Proof of NL Option to be recertified (need not be current)
- Airway Management and Oxygen Administration
- A current CPR-C and NL option are recommended
Recognition
National Lifeguard certification card.
Currency
All NL certifications are valid for two years. After two years the NL holder will attend an NL Recertification (NL Recert) to continue lifeguarding. As an NL certification is valid for 2 years, candidates who fail an NL recertification remain current until the expiry of their certification. Candidates with an expired NL can attend an NL Recert at any time. It is recommended that a candidate who is more than 10 years expired take a full NL course again.

Description
The National Lifeguard Waterfront certification is designed to develop the fundamental values, judgment, knowledge, skills and fitness required by waterfront lifeguards. The NL Waterfront course emphasizes the lifeguarding skills, principles and practices, and the decision-making processes which will assist the lifeguard to provide effective safety supervsion in waterfront environments.
