Bronze Star is a pre-Bronze Medallion training program that helps to prepare candidates for success in Bronze Medallion. The Lifesaving Society’s Bronze Star develops swimming proficiency, lifesaving skill and personal fitness.
Candidates refine their stroke mechanics, acquire self-rescue skills, and apply fitness principles in training workouts. Bronze Star is excellent preparation for success in Bronze Medallion and provides a fun introduction to lifesaving sport.
Prerequisites: Canadian Swim Patrol recommended and an ability to swim in deep water. Provides excellent preparation for success in obtaining the Bronze Medallion award. Develop problem solving and decision-making skills as they relate to water rescue and first aid as well as Water Smart confidence and the lifesaving skills needed to be one’s own personal lifeguard. There is a non-refundable exam fee of $10.00.
Lessons are outside; we recommend applying sunscreen 30-minutes before lesson start time and/or wearing a rashguard.
