Aquatic Emergency Care

Overview

This course is designed to provide knowledge and practice to be prepared for success in the National Lifeguard program and for employment as an Assistant Lifeguard. Aquatic Emergency Care focuses on practical skill development and teamwork by applying lifesaving and first aid concepts in an aquatic environment.

Prerequisites

  • 15 years of age (By last day of course)
  • Bronze Cross (need not be current)
  • Standard First Aid with CPR C/AED (from a valid agency)
    – Any Canadian Lifesaving Society Branch
    – Canadian Red Cross
    – St. Johns Ambulance
    – Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada
    – Canadian Ski Patrol

Recertification

Recertification of Aquatic Emergency Care is achieved by attending an Aquatic Emergency Care Recertification course.

Prerequisites

  • Aquatic Emergency Care (need not be current) from the Lifesaving Society BC & Yukon Branch.
