Deer Lake Boat Rentals is looking for both part time (20 to 30 hours per week) and part time on-call lifeguards.

 
Job Duties:
 
- Periodically visually inspect the lake for the safety of boaters
 
-  Operate a motor boat for patrons who need assistance
 
-  Daily locking and unlocking of boats – requires manually moving boats
 
-  Answer customer questions about boats and boating
 
-  Assist customers in filling in waivers
 
-  Collect money and provide change
 
-  Assist customers with lifejackets
 
-  Work independently at times and as part of a team at times
 
-  Fill out daily sales and timesheet forms
 
-  NLS Certification Required
 
- Boat Operators Card preferred but not required.
 
- Waterfront option is not required.

Pay is $13 per hour and increases with previous lifeguarding experience.

Job Summary:
 
Under the direction of the Pool Manager, the Lifeguard/Swim Instructor is responsible for the effective operation of Kin Pool through the provision of supervision, aquatic programs, and maintenance of the facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:
 
1. Ensures pool safety through supervision and public education; enforcing pool rules, effectively responding to emergency situations, carrying out aquatic recues and performing first aid.
 
2. Instruct Swimming lessons; providing a safe environment for learning, evaluating swimmers strokes and skills, and providing effective feedback.
 
3. Provide excellent customer service; developing a positive relationship with facility user groups and patrons.
 
4. Collects drop-in fees

Minimum Training and Certification:
 
  • Minimum of 16 years or age
  • Current NL- Pool Option
  • CPR © with AED
  • Standard First Aid or Aquatic Emergency Care
Beneficial, but not Required:
  • WSI or equivalent coaching certification
  • Pool Operators- Level 1
  • WHMIS
  • BCRPA Aquatic Fitness Instructor
*Copies of Certifications will be required at interview*
 
Hours of Work:
 
Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule, including weekends and evenings.

2016 OUTDOOR SWIMMING POOL POSITIONS
 
The Village of Lytton requires the following personnel for the Lytton Outdoor Pool during the 2016 season. These are Union positions (CUPE, Local 900) and the necessary qualifications are outlined below:
 
HEAD LIFEGUARD/INSTRUCTOR
 
Responsible for supervision and training of pool staff, planning of programs, preparation of lesson schedules and other duties as required. Preferred qualifications include:
 
- NLS, WSI, Lifesaving Instructor, Standard First Aid, CPR Level Two
 
The rate of pay ranges between $14.35 - $16.91 per hour depending on qualifications and experience, plus 14% in lieu of benefits. The job consists of 37.5 hours/week, and may include split shifts and split days off. The positions may start as early as mid-May and will continue until August 31st.
 
LIFEGUARD/INSTRUCTOR
 
Preferred qualifications include:
 
- NLS, WSI, CPR, Min. 2 yrs lifeguarding experience
 
The rate of pay ranges between $14.71 - $17.34 per hour depending on qualifications and experience, plus 14% in lieu of benefits. The job consists of up to 37.5 hours/week, and may include split shifts and split days off. The position runs from June 15th to August 31st. The Village may require up to 3 Lifeguard/Instructors.

The rate of pay is $13.66 per hour depending on qualifications and experience, plus 14% in lieu of benefits. The job consists of up to 37.5 hours/week, and may include split shifts and split days off. The position runs from June 15th to August 31st.

The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation is seeking responses from qualified candidates for the Summer intake (May/June 2016) of Lifeguard Instructors. All shortlisted candidates will be required to attend a wet screen assessment on Sunday, April 17, 2016.

Responsibilities of this position include:

- Swim instruction, pool supervision, maintenance and emergency medical care

- Facilitating safe community recreation for everyone through integration, inclusion, and participation in aquatic recreation

- Providing every member and guest with support and excellence in customer service

- Teaching and evaluating all age groups and all levels of swimming, including specialized areas of instruction

- Supervision of all visitors, administration of first aid

- Performing routine facility maintenance, and other related duties as required

The successful candidate must possess the following current and valid certificates:

- National Lifeguard Pool Option Certificate

- Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certificate

- CPR Basic Rescuer "C" Certificate (completed within the last year)

- Standard First Aid, Aquatic Emergency Care Certificate or equivalent (as deemed by the City of Vancouver)

*Certification as a BCRPA Fitness Registered Instructor (Aquafit Module) and Lifesaving Instructor certifications are especially valuable. The City of Vancouver offers Aquafit and lifesaving programs to all members and guests.

A Police Record Check is a requirement of this position. A Clearance requires the absence of any criminal charges or convictions related to this position. This position may include working weekends, statutory holidays, as well as early morning and late evening shifts.
