Reporting to the Aquatic Coordinator, the preferred lifeguards and lifeguard instructors will possess a deep commitment to provide quality service and the opportunity to make a difference in the community. The successful candidates will be responsible for showing leadership combined with life guarding knowledge and experience, a strong work ethic and initiative relating to continuous improvement. Responsibilities will include and are not limited to provide supervision to ensure patron safety, perform instructional duties, and assist with the operation and delivery of aquatic programs/services.
We are also hopeful to attract newly certified lifeguards who want to initiate their skills and experience at the Aquatic Centre.
EDUCATION: Minimum 16 years of age
§ Lifeguardmust have National Lifeguard Service (NLS),and CPR-C/Standard First Aid and AED.
§ Lifeguard/Instructor Imust have NLS, CPR-C/Standard First Aid and AED, and Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
§ Lifeguard/Instructor IImust have NLS, CPR-C/Standard First Aid and AED, WSI, Lifesaving Instructor (LSI), Aqua Fit (or equivalent), and 2 years lifeguarding experience
The incumbent in all positions must be positive and responsive when dealing with public user groups, other aquatic employees, and perform as a dedicated team player. In addition, you must be able to think clearly while handling multiple priorities in emergencies.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The City of Kimberley has the right to hire a Lifeguard/Instructor level that matches the qualifications. Any additional qualifications such as a recognized coaching certification, Pool Operation Level 1 and 2, or any other related Instructor or Instructor Trainer status is considered an asset.
The position requires working shift work and flexible work hours to effectively perform the duties of the position which includes weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
Qualifications must be outlined with verifications of education/certification attached.
