Reporting directly to the Aquatic Supervisor, the FlowRider®/Slide Attendant is a key team member to the Aquatics Department at the H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre.

The FlowRider®/Slide Attendant is responsible for the proper use and safety of the FlowRider® and water slides, and instilling the Y’s core values of caring, respect, responsibility and honesty. The FlowRider®/Slide Attendant is part of a large dynamic aquatic team and has the opportunity to teach YMCA swim lessons on an as-needed basis. The FlowRider®/Slide Attendant will maintain a safe and clean work environment and provide an enjoyable experience, while building relationships with our members.

Major Responsibilities and Abilities:

·         Supervises the operation and safety of the FlowRider® and waterslides

·         Deliver aquatic programs occurring during assigned shifts (lessons or aquatic programs and courses).

·         Monitors the general safety and maintenance of the pool deck, change rooms, and associated areas, and either reports concerns to the appropriate staff member or directly address the concerns

·         Organizes and coordinates drop in programs, activities, games, and events of interest to participants

·         Conducts routine inspections of the facility’s public areas and equipment to ensure customer safety

·         Work as part of a staff/volunteer team, ensuring excellent customer service

·         Maintains a clean and safe working environment

·         Ensures all awards or certifications are kept current and up to date

Qualifications:

·         National Lifeguard Service Certification-Pool Option

·         National Lifeguard Service Certification—Waterpark Option

·         Current Standard First Aid with CPR

·         AED Responder (Must be Lifesaving Society certification)

·         YMCA Canada Swim Instructor

·         Upon request provide 3 references.  A minimum of 2 will be professional in nature (eg. Employer, Supervisor or Colleague)

·         A satisfactory Criminal Record Check. Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date

Job Description: 

Camp Tulahead near Princeton BC has the following positions available for Lifeguards this summer:

 Waterfront Director:

You will be responsible for supervising the entire waterfront facility, including activities, staff, safety, equipment and general maintenance. You will also be in charge of all lifeguards and boat operators. You must hold a current NLS certificate, have substantial lifeguarding and leadership experience, organizational skills, and proficiency in various water activities. You will have the opportunity to instruct an activity to a group of 12 campers in one of the camp activities (previous instructing experience is also an asset).

Lifeguard:
You will be responsible to assist the Waterfront Director with the supervision of the waterfront facility and to teach an activity. You must hold a current NLS certificate, have previous guarding experience, and proficiency in various water activities.

Camp Tulahead offers and incredible summer experience that will enrich your life and the lives of those you encounter.  We pay all of our staff a summer salary of $2759.00 – $3,386.00 (plus room and board), depending on your experience and position, for a seasonal position extending from approximately the last week of June to the end of August.

Casual Lifeguard Instructors

Job Description: 

The City of Nanaimo is seeking casual Lifeguard Instructors.  Incumbents will perform lifeguard and aquatic instructional program procedures as per facility policy and will be responsible for supervision and control of activities, safety standards, and cleanliness of aquatic facilities.  The Lifeguard/Instructor exercises mature judgment in carrying out instructional skills and general lifeguarding duties.

Applicants must have completion of Grade 10, Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification, C.P.R. “C” Certification and National Lifeguard Certification (Pool Option). 

This is a unionized position, starting rate will be $18.40 per hour.  Hours of work will be 0 - 40 hours per week; depending on workload. Incumbents will be expected to commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week.  Extensive weekend and evening work may be required in addition to weekday shifts.

Job Description: 

 The Fraser Valley Regional District is inviting applications from qualified candidates to fill the Time Duration positions of Lifeguard at our Almer Carlson OutdoorPool located in North Bend, BC.  It is anticipated these positions will commence June 1, 2016 and end approximately September 10, 2016.

A Lifeguard follows applicable safety procedures to ensure the protection of customers, staff and facilities, and performs tasks assigned relating to the operation and maintenance of the aquatic facility.  The successful applicants will be responsible for maintaining order and discipline at the outdoor pool. They must be team players, possess and demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, organization and leadership skills. 

Required qualifications:

·         must be at least 16 years of age;

·         possess current National Lifeguard Service certification;

·         possess current CPR level ‘C’ certification;

·         have knowledge of the operation and maintenance of an outdoor pool and related equipment.

 

The preferred candidates will also possess the following additional certifications:

 

·         Lifesaving Instructor certificate

·         Red Cross Water Safety Instructorcertification

The starting wage rate for this time-duration Union position is $16.51 per hour plus 10.6% in lieu of benefits. Upon successful completion of the required probationary period the wage rate will increase to $18.35 per hour plus 10.6% in lieu of benefits.  If instructing the wage rate will increase to the Swimming Instructor’s rate.  Lifeguards must be available for shifts for up to 8 hours, anytime between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., inclusive of evenings, weekends and some holidays.
