The City of Dawson Creek invites applications for a Lifeguard 2 @ 25 hrs. per week (term). This position is a maternity leave coverage vacancy and is anticipated to last until August of 2015
Shifts may vary based on operational requirements. Under the general supervision of the Aquatic Coordinator or designate, a Lifeguard/Instructor II performs lifeguarding functions and provides instruction in a number of aquatic programs and skills at the Kenn Borek Aquatic Centre as well as minor maintenance.
As the Community Services Coordinator, you are responsible primarily for recreation facility operation and overall delivery of programs throughout the Community. The successful individual will be an integral member of a team who will be actively involved in providing recreation and community programs and services for children, youth, adult, and seniors.
The successful applicant must have a good understanding and knowledge of community recreation programs, their purpose and objectives. You have demonstrated initiative and have a positive attitude. Strong public relations and communication skills are vital in this role. You must also have a strong foundation and experience in early years, middle years and youth programming, partnership development and community engagement initiatives.
Work at this level is characterized by the significant scope and depth of financial and supervisory responsibilities, within a multi-functional and diversified recreational facility and the high profile of community service.
The successful candidate must be a graduate from a recognized university or college level program and have 4 years of progressively responsible experience in the delivery of recreational or community development. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. You must have technical expertise applicable to the specific role. Hours are non-standard.

The City of Dawson Creek invites applications for casual Lifeguard in Training positions at the Kenn Borek Aquatic Centre who will be scheduled to work as needed with no guaranteed minimum hours. Under the general supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator or designate, a lifeguard in training performs life guarding and instructing functions at the swimming pool as well as minor maintenance. The training position is an entry-level position with no previous experience as a lifeguard/instructor required.
