Lifesaving Instructor Bridges Program

The Lifesaving Instructor (LSI) Bridges program allows Lifesaving Instructors who have not attended an LSI Recertification in over 5 years to recertify. Contact the Branch office if you are interesting in doing the LSI Bridges program.

Any Lifesaving Instructor or Instructor Trainer who is within 5 years from the date of issue can recertify by attending a Lifesaving Instructor Recertification.

Any Lifesaving Instructor or Instructor Trainer who is within 5-10 years from the date of issue can recertify by completing the following steps:

Option 1

  • Take the Lifesaving Instructor full course (24 hours) again (to include recertifying prerequisite courses if applicable and purchase a full LSI Kit at the time of registration).

Option 2 (Bridges)

  • Purchase the Bridges package to include the Canadian Swim Patrol Award Guide, Bronze Medals Award Guide, Canadian Lifesaving Manual and the Bridges guide.
  • Recertify Bronze Cross (2-4 hours), then attend an LSI Recert (4 hours).
  • LSITs will be required to apprentice on 1 LSI full course.
  • Submit the completed Bridges package to the Branch office for review and approval - keep a copy for your records!

Any Lifesaving Instructor or Instructor Trainer who is more than 10 years past the date of issue will be required to take the Lifesaving Instructor course again.
