We are the third largest regional district in BC and deliver over 100 services to six municipalities and eight electoral areas. Our region covers more than 13,000 km2 stretching from Hatzic Prairie to Boston Bar. As  a Head Guard at the FVRD, a typical week could see you performing lifeguard duties at our 25m pool in Hope or Boston Bar including the instruction of lessons. You will take on a leading role supervising and scheduling aquatics staff and ensuring that our lifeguards have the required training and certifications. You will be responsible for updating and maintaining the Aquatic Pool Safety Plan, informing management of pool maintenance, equipment and supplies requirements; discussing  any concerns, issues  or problems with pool patrons; aquatics programming; coordinating and conducting in-service training; and orienting new aquatics  staff.

Required qualifications:
•  Pool Operator Level l or II Certificate;
•  NL Instructor Certificate;
•  Water Safety Instructor;
•  Lifesaving  Society Instructor Trainer of Aquatic Supervisor Training (AST) or equivalent;
•  C.P.R. Level 'C" certification (Red Cross Standard First Aid or Aquatic Emergency Care preferred).
•  Must possess a valid Driver's License.
The wage rate for this full-time Union position is $23.45 plus a comprehensive benefits package. Upon successful completion of the required probationary period the wage will increase to $26.06 per hour. The Head Guard must be available for shifts inclusive of evenings, weekends and some holidays.
