 Location: H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre

Status: Accepting

Placement Date: Immediately

Must be: + 15 years old

Schedule: 2-hour shift per week (Sun-Sat, 9am-7pm depending on the day)

 

We are seeking an assistant to a swimming instructor, who is friendly, resourceful, well organized, and enjoys working with young children and would love giving time at the H20 Adventure + Fitness Centre. If that sounds like you, then this is your ideal place to help build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.

Without volunteers, the Y could not subsidize memberships or expand on the health and wellness programs that prove to change lives today. Without our volunteers' gift of time, we definitely could not grow to help those that need us tomorrow. YMCA volunteers come in all shapes, sizes and skill sets. There are varieties of volunteer opportunities in our YMCA centres to suit you. Your time and talent is needed to help our members grow in spirit, mind and body.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Identify and create opportunities to enhance every person's experience.
  • Lead children through activities in the water.
  • Support and work as part of a staff/volunteer team ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Provide leadership and guidance.

 

Requirements:

  • 15 years or older.
  • Background in aquatics.
  • Bronze Medallion or Bronze Cross is an asset.
  • First aid and CPR-C is an asset.
  • Ability to communicate well with adults and children.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check. Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date. The YMCA will provide applicable instructions and paperwork.
  • Upon request, provide 3 references.  A minimum of 2 will be professional in nature (eg. Employer, Supervisor or Colleague).
