Many skills learned in lifesaving, lifeguarding and first aid courses last a lifetime. The Lifesaving Society is a full-service provider of programs, products and services designed to prevent drowning and water-related injury. We are a leader and partner in the delivery of water safety education throughout Canada and around the world.
Annually over 1.5 million Canadians participate in our swimming, lifesaving, lifeguard and leadership programs. As Canada's lifeguarding experts, we set the standard for lifeguard training and certify all of Canada's National Lifeguards.
The Lifesaving Society programs are offered in the following areas:
Lifesaving programs focus on drowning prevention messages in addition to educating participants on how to recognize when someone is in trouble and how to safely perform water rescues in every day environments. Lifesaving programs include Swim to Survive, Junior Lifeguard Club, Canadian Swim Patrol and Bronze Medal Awards.
Recognized as the standard measure of lifeguard performance in Canada, National Lifeguard (NL) education is designed to develop a sound understanding of lifeguarding principles, good judgment, and a mature and responsible attitude toward the role of the lifeguard. The National Lifeguard program is made up of 4 options to include NL Pool, NL Waterpark, NL Waterfront and NL Surf.
First aid is a valuable life skill that is applicable in any environment. It provides people with the rescue skills to manage illness or injuries while accessing emergency services. First Aid programs include CPR, AED, Emergency First Aid and Standard First Aid.
The Lifesaving Society has developed a number of specialized training programs to meet specific training needs (e.g. the Head Lifeguard Course) and can customize water rescue and safety training for business and government agencies.
