AED PAD
Description: 

AED Public Access Defibrillation (AED-PAD) provides basic CPR training and orientation to an AED unit.  AED-PAD teaches participants to recognize when a patient requires EMS, provides basic CPR skills and orientation to the operation of an automated external defibrillator in a public setting.

Prerequisites:
None
Instructional Time: 

3-4 hours.

Taught and evaluated by a current Lifesaving Society AED Instructor.

Recognition: 

Participants will be issued a proof of training card by the instructor upon completion.

Currency: 

Annual retraining is recommended.

Evaluation and Other Items: 

Knowledge - General

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of first aid and the Chain of Survival.

Assessment

  • Demonstrate the ability to safely assess a rescue scene and a primary assessment on an unresponsive victim.

One Rescuer CPR – Adult & Child

  • Demonstrate one rescuer adult & child cardiopulmonary resuscitation rescue on a manikin.

Knowledge - AED

  • Demonstrate knowledge of when and how to safely use an Automated External Defibrillator.

AED Use & Operation – General

  • Demonstrate how to operate an Automated External Defibrillator.

AED Use & Operation – Prompts

  • Demonstrate ability to follow voice prompts and/or symbols of an Automated External Defibrillator.

One Rescuer AED – Adult & Child

  • Demonstrate one rescuer adult and child automated external defibrillation rescue on a manikin.
