 Job Description – Pool Rehabilitation Assistant



Under the direction of an Occupational Therapist, the Rehabilitation Assistant implements rehabilitative treatment plans and programs in the pool, and assists the therapist in monitoring and evaluating patient progression.


Please note: the clientele is children ages 4 – 18, who may be non-verbal with their communication, and utilize walkers and wheelchairs for mobility. Diagnoses include Autism, Developmental Delay and Cerebral Palsy. 


Start Date

·         Nov 1, 2017

·         Training is required and will take place on Saturdays



·         Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard certificate

o    You will be required to purchase lifeguard liability insurance

·         Standard First Aid

·         CPR-C

·         Personal training certificate or BCAK registration (or eligible)

o    You must be eligible to be registered as an external trainer at community pools

·         Red Cross Water Safety Instructor an asset

·         First Aid Instructor an asset




·         Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. 

·         Ability to deal with children and parents effectively. 

·         Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.  

·         Ability to operate related equipment such as wheelchairs.

·         Ability to utilize email efficiently

·         The ideal candidate is a self-starter.


Added Responsibilities

·         The Rehabilitation Assistant is responsible for charting the client’s progress and sending updates to the supervising Occupational Therapist, after every session.



Weekday evenings (after school times) and weekends


Geographical Regions Covered

1)     Richmond and Vancouver


2)     Chilliwack and Abbotsford



·         Valid B.C. Driver’s License

·         Access to a personal, reliable vehicle for travelling to work sites. 


Rate of Pay

·         $25/hour (compensation provided for driving time and mileage)
