The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for two Recreation Worker V – Senior Lifeguard/Instructors (Outdoor Pools) to join our team of professionals in the Recreation, Culture and Parks Division for our various Recreation Facilities. The focus of the position is to perform lifeguarding and instructional duties, and to assist with supervision and coordination of part-time aquatic staff.
The successful applicants arerequired to have all ofthe following:
- Completion of Grade 12
- Current AED Responder Certification (Automated External Defibrillator) – updated annually,
- Current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor,
- Current National Lifeguard Certificate (Pool and Water park Options),
- Current Standard First-Aid Certificate- updated every two years,
- Current CPR Level ‘C’ Certificate – updated every 2 years
- Valid Class 5 (full-privilege) BC Driver's License.
Candidates must have some supervisory and/or leadership training and 2 years equivalent full time related aquatic experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Other desirablequalifications or related courses:
- Pool Operator’s 1 and 2
- Life Saving Society Instructor
- WSI Instructor Trainer
- NLS Instructor
- Aquatic Supervisor Training preferred
This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety) and requires a criminal record check.
The rate of pay for this CUPE position is $21.24 - $24.91 per hour (2011 rates), plus 12% in lieu of all other benefits. The hours of work are various including evenings and weekends.
