LSIT Course

 The Lifesaving Instructor Trainer (LSIT) course is a ‘train-the-trainer’ program that certifies successful candidates to run Lifesaving Instructor courses and Recertifications.

Candidates must attend 100% of the 24 hour LSIT course and complete the required apprenticeships (1 LSI full course and 1 LSI Recertification) within 2 years of taking the course.

Course Objectives:

At the end of this course candidates will be able to:

  • Define your role as an Instructor Trainer
  • Discuss the principles of adult learning
  • Use objectives effectively
  • Design your courses for learning
  • Present material clearly and effectively
  • Use Lifesaving Society resources

The Certification Process:

  • Submit your payement and completed registration to the Lifesaving Society BC & Yukon Branch.
  • Space permitting, if you fulfill all the pre-requisites you will be registered and sent the course materials.
  • Successfully complete the LSIT course - 100% course attendance required.
  • Successfully complete all pre-course and course assignments.
  • Other expectations as outlined by the course instructor
  • Successfully complete the LSIT Apprenticeship process
  • Submit completed apprenticeship forms to the Branch Office for review and certification

Written notice of a candidate’s decision to withdraw from a clinic is required. Refund of clinic fees, where applicable, will be as follows: 30 days notice = full refund; 21 days notice = 75% refund; 14 days notice = 50% refund, 7 days notice = 25% refund. Candidates that withdraw within 7 days of the clinic start date are not eligible to receive a refund, unless a written medical note is received no more than 5 days after the clinic start date.
