 The Ride, occurring over June 14th & 15th, 2014, is an epic 2 day cycling journey from Vancouver to Seattle. During this amazing weekend, thousands join together to Ride in the battle against cancer.  Currently we are in need of Medical Volunteers to assist our Riders. I’m contacting the Lifesaving Society in the hopes that we can work together to disseminate information about our Medical Volunteer opportunities and work together to make this year more successful than any other in our mission to conquer cancer.

Presently, we are recruiting Medical Volunteers to join our crew team. The Medical Crew Team are comprised of a variety of medical professionals, and students. This team provides all first-aid medical services to participants at Opening Ceremonies, Camp and Closing Ceremonies, and will provide emergency service where necessary until local EMS/Paramedics arrive on scene. The Medical Crew are dedicated volunteers who commit their entire weekend to helping support the cyclists through their journey.

Volunteering as part of the Crew you get to be a part of the whole weekend and camp out at the event (in Mount Vernon, WA) with the Riders. Crew Members also get the same perks as the Riders do including:  Hot Meals, Overnight Tent accommodation, Live Entertainment at Camp and access to the Massage & Yoga Tents!  

Our Volunteers are rewarded by knowing how much their efforts mean to the thousands of men and women who are embarking their cancer-conquering journey. Joining the Medical Team is an amazing teambuilding opportunity and a chance to be involved in an important community event.   • - With over 3,000+ cyclists taking part in this event we are in need of a huge Medical Volunteer Crew Team

  • - Our Medical Volunteers are stationed in First Aid tents at the Pit Stops, Camp and Finish Line
  • - Must have Level 3 First Aid or higher

Medical Team Volunteers for Concrete Hero

Job Description: 

The BC Cancer Foundation is seeking First Responder / Medical Volunteers for a BRAND NEW EVENT: 2013 CONCRETE HERO.

Concrete Hero occurring on Sunday, September 29th, 2013 is the ultimate urban obstacle challenge, benefiting the BC Cancer Foundation. The event unites hundreds of individuals who run in hope, to commemorate life, to honour lives lost, to celebrate survival and to contribute to finding a cure.  We would love to have  Lifeguards volunteering with our Medical Team helping our Participants.

The Medical team provides all first-aid medical services to our participants.
As we are an Obstacle Challenge the medical volunteers get the added bonus of being on the front lines of all the action & excitement. They will be positioned at our 9 different obstacles helping participants to :
• Leap over Fire
• Swing across "Lost Lagoon"
• Scale “The Chief”
• Battle Zombies


Volunteers are rewarded by knowing how much their efforts mean to the hundreds of men and women who are embarking on their cancer conquering mission. Joining the Medical Team is an amazing teambuilding opportunity and a chance to be involved in an important community event.

Enhance your first aid and aquatic rescue skills by volunteering as a victim at the Barnsley Branch Lifeguard Championship.

Volunteers of all ages are needed for a variety of positions.   You must be available for the entire shift.

IRONMAN Canada - NLS Waterfront Lifeguards

We are currently recruiting volunteer NLS Waterfront Lifeguards for IRONMAN Canada in Whistler on August 25th!

Come and help keep the waters of Alta Lake safe for these exceptional athletes!

 

The swim portion of the Ironman is a distance of 2.4 miles (3.86 km) around Alta Lake, beginning and ending at Rainbow Park beach. The swim is supported by emergency-responders such as doctors, paramedics, nurses, lifeguards, jet-skiers, paddle-boarders, boaters. As you would expect, IRONMAN Canada has a comprehensive risk-management plan in place, and the waterfront lifeguards are an important component of that plan.

 

Waterfront Lifeguard volunteers are responsible for the recognition of an athlete in trouble in the water, signaling to other rescue personnel, and facilitating the removal of the victim to a piloted personal watercraft. The lifeguard then provides primary care while medical personnel provide immediate backup from their watercraft. Volunteers may also assist in some setup, takedown and other tasks as required. Volunteers will also be requested to attend a site-specific safety orientation and training session close to the event event, date and time tbd.

 

As a requirement of the volunteer position, the successful applicant must hold a current National Lifeguard Service Award – Waterfront Option and must obtain a satisfactory criminal record check prior to beginning employment.
