Qualifications

  • Successful candidates will be a BCRPA Registered Aquatic Fitness Instructor with a current CPR-C including AED certification;
  • Additional training or certification in Older Adult, Osteofit, Pre-Post-Natal, and Adaptive Fitness is an asset;
  • A practical demonstration of skills will be a required component of the screening process.

We are looking for an Aquatics Coordinator to join our fantastic team in the Aquatics Center.

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Customer Service

  • Ensure that all members and guests receive courteous, prompt, and professional attention to their needs; utilize feedback to improve departmental operations and member satisfaction
  • Possess the Club’s three core values: be Powered ON or energized at all times; display a Service First attitude (excellent customer service skills); and able to create FOMO (the fear of missing out) in daily interactions with Club members, guests, and staff
  • Display evidence of the following key characteristics required for optimal delivery of customer service to members, guests, and staff: (1) enthusiasm, (2) teamwork, (3) initiative, (4) adaptability, (5) empathy, and (6) accountability
  • Go above and beyond to demonstrate awareness and understanding of Hollyburn’s aim to deliver exceptional service to its members (introduce new programs to meet service needs)

 

Management of Aquatics Centre

  • Work with Athletic Director to develop the pool schedules
  • Ensure safety and cleanliness of Aquatics Centre and equipment
  • Work with Athletic Director to develop annual budget and set department goals & objectives annually
  • Keep detailed statistics on member usage of the pools

 

Management of Programs and Events

  • Promote the Aquatics department within the club through events; communicate with members via the VIEW, e-blasts, and bulletin boards regarding the department’s activities
  • Develop and oversee all Aquatics and first aid programs, including advertising in the VIEW
  • Administer member billing for Aquatics programs in a timely manner
  • Ensure that program registration information and details are prepared and submitted in a timely manner adhering to deadlines

 

Management of Department Personnel

  • Responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating all lifeguards and swim instructors, including synchronized swimming coaches and Aqua Fit instructors
  • Provide in-service training and professional development opportunities for staff
  • Prepare and submit payroll for all pool staff

 

First Aid and Occupational Safety

  • Ensure members and staff receive the best possible first aid treatment
  • Ensure proper documentation and follow-up of all incidents
  • Attend monthly Occupational Health and Safety meetings to address safety concerns of all Hollyburn staff
  • Provide courses for member including: Lifesaving and Bronze Cross

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have the following certifications:
    • National Lifeguard Service (current within 2 years)
    • Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (current within 2 years)
    • Lifesaving Instructor (current within 2 years)
    • CPR-C/AED (current within 1 year)
    • Standard First Aid (current within 2 years)
    • Occupational First Aid Level 1 (current within 3 years)
    • Pool Operators Level 1 & 2
  • Must be experienced in lifeguarding, first aid treatment and instruction of swim lessons and lifesaving programs
  • Must maintain excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills; able to handle interactions with a wide range of personality types; strong ability to build relationships with members, guests and coworkers
  • Able to effectively prioritize and multi-task responsibilities with a keen attention to detail; able to meet tight deadlines
  • Able to remain composed and professional in emergency or stressful situations
